Independence hall
Position: Responsible for all aspects of the project
Rendered in Unreal Engine 4
Tools: Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 4
Summary:
The project, which was inspired by the US Independence Hall in Philadelphia, is a remake of my first environment project at SCAD. In this updated version, I went back and made changes to the models, textures, lighting, and the organization of the assets within the room. Personally, it was an inspiring project, as it made me realize the skills I had gained throughout my time at SCAD.
Reference
Previous Scene
This is what my first project looked like. The models were poorly crafted, their textures were very plain, and the lighting was simple and did not cast shadows in most of the objects. Most importantly, however, there was no story behind this scene.
New Scene
My goal with the new room was to bring life to a rather lifeless environment. By crafting more detailed models and organizing the assets in a more realistic manner, the space went from a stale room to a plausible practical historical site.
I initially tried to refine the existing models; however, I soon found out that this was an impossible task, as the models' wireframe was generally bad and not worth investing on. Thus, I decided to create the entire room from scratch.
Items Changed
As I mentioned before, I had to change every single item in the level. Here are some of the previous items in the old level, and the updated version in the new scene.
